USPS National Card and Letter Writing MonthApril is National Card and Letter Writing Month! The USPS is celebrating all month long to raise awareness of the importance and historical significance of card and letter writing.

As direct marketers, we know the impact of a personalized letter, and a handwritten letter or note is even more meaningful and special. Seeing a hand-addressed, colorful envelope amidst the usual business mail and bills is always a delight!

National Card and Letter Writing Month began in 2001 and features an educational connection which encourages elementary school students to write letters. The USPS has partnered with Scholastic to promote the Show Someone You Care campaign which provides lesson plans for teachers, stationery templates, and student activities in both English and Spanish.

We love the connection that can be made with a handwritten note, and the USPS and Scholastic partnership that encourages children to use handwritten correspondence.

To participate in the month-long celebration yourself, simply hand write a note or card and mail it to a friend, colleague, family member or client. Your envelope will surely be the highlight in their mailbox that day!
